Mrs. Carlson is a dedicated educator who holds a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics from Roger Williams University. She is currently pursuing further professional development through Boston College’s Executive Leadership Program. A proud product of Catholic education herself, Mrs. Carlson attended Catholic schools throughout her elementary and high school years. Her own formative experiences inspired her to become a teacher and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
She began her career as a middle school math teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, a role she held for 18 years before becoming Principal in 2023.
Mrs. Carlson deeply values the Catholic identity of OLMC, especially its devotion to Mary. What she treasures most, however, is the strong sense of community and family that exists among the faculty, staff, and students.
Her commitment to educational excellence extends beyond the classroom. She has served on five NEASC accreditation visiting teams and was the coordinator for OLMC’s re-evaluation in both 2009 and 2019. Additionally, she has chaired a NEASC visiting committee, lending her expertise to help strengthen the culture of other schools.
Mrs. Carlson resides in Riverside with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, relaxing at the beach, and spending quality time with her family.
"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all."
