The early elementary grades are an important milestone in the educational journey of our students. Students in these grades learn to express their curiosity of the world around them and solidify their love of learning.
The age requirement for admission to our Kindergarten program conforms to the uniform entry qualifications stated in the diocesan policy and aligns with the requirements of the Bristol/Warren School District. Students entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years old by September 1st. No exceptions can be made to this age requirement.
The curriculum of this grade level focuses on developing students’ skills in the critical areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Science and Technology are also integrated. It's not uncommon to see students working in small groups with Chromebooks or iPads. Teachers utilize a systematic science curriculum that combines hands-on experiences with high-quality literacy practices. Instructional techniques and practices support the development of emerging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students learn collaboratively and each classroom offers a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment. Gospel values are interwoven throughout the curriculum. Daily interactions with peers and teachers offer opportunities to develop the interpersonal skills needed to be successful in the future. Teachers and staff use these as "teachable moments"- opportunities to help children make the best choices in a given situation. Students are building the foundation they need to be successful in middle school, high school, and beyond!
